Playstation 3 Controller Is Light In Weight And Easy On The Fingers

Friday, October 12th, 2007

The good thing about Playstation 3 controller is that it is light in weight, can easily be held in your hand and it also has many features designed to provide you with endless hours of entertainment and fun. The light weight is especially advantageous if you are going to be playing for extended periods of time as the heavier controllers can be awkward as well as lead to painful fingers. The Playstation 3 controller is a much better option since you can use it for hours without causing any discomfort and you will also notice a slight departure in that the L2 as well as R2 buttons are larger on the Playstation 3 as compared to its predecessor.

Great Motion Sensors

You are also going to find the Playstation 3 controller’s feature of letting a maximum of four persons to play using wired or wireless controllers especially pleasing and an additional controller could be yours for just forty dollars. The motion sensors are also welcome and with six axis sensing, the Playstation 3 controller allows you to enjoy driving a car and flying a plane even more. However, a slight disappointment is the lack of vibration feature which was available in the Playstation 2 and this can be attributed to its interfering with the sensors. Also, there is no compatibility between the Playstation 2 and Playstation 3 controllers.

Nevertheless, when you realize that there are also available wireless controllers that you can connect through USBs, you will get added pleasure from gaming with your Playstation 3. Thus you can play your most loved games for hours and hours from the comfort of a seat that does not have to be right next to the console.

What are most noticeable about the Playstation 3 controller are its light weight as well as ease of handling and there have been made many changes to its design which will ensure that you do not feel any pain even after using it for many hours of gaming. This is something that is intended to keep customers happy and with the ability to connect as many as seven controllers for a single game, you are indeed going to love this Playstation 3.

And, for those moving from the Playstation 2 to the Playstation 3 there are many similarities though the Playstation 3 controller does have reflective metal coloration and it also sports LED that are of great help when it comes to wireless functioning of the controller. The best thing is that all the Playstation 3 controllers can be connected without wires which are welcome as you don’t have to worry about cables and it also allows players to play the games in greater comfort.

Playstation 3 Controllers: No Vibration Feature Is A Major Blow To Players

Friday, October 12th, 2007

No doubt, the Playstation 3 controllers do resemble their predecessors quite a bit. Yet, they have some more features to them that include rock solid X-Y-Z pitch, yaw, roll and also detection of lateral motion and the very exceptional Bluetooth that allows users the ability to play without any wires. Even so, some notable exceptions have also been made that are quite unpalatable to some. What’s more, you won’t need more than five minutes to switch from the Playstation 2 controllers to the Playstation 3 controllers.

You could end up worrying quite a bit when you learn that there is not the vibration feature in Playstation 3 controllers as was the case in the Playstation 2. It may be meant to do away with interference that the vibration feature causes to the sensing of motion, though there may be other reasons as well. What’s more, there is a lot in common that Playstation 3 controllers have with Playstation 2’s already installed Dual Shock.

Innovation Has Been Sacrificed For Mere Copying

And, you can also notice some similarities between Playstation 3 controllers and Nintendo’s Wii which is a pity since they could have innovated instead of copying. Even though there is no vibration function in the present Playstation 3 controllers there is the six axis sensor which is a good way of incorporating the newest in technology as far as sensing is concerned.

However, many users will certainly miss the vibration feature as it provided them with the feeling of what it was like to get shot or even having an injury especially when playing one of the FIFA 2006 games. So, not all the users like the fact that they have to do without the vibration feature and many would readily forego the six motion sensor and settle for the tried and tested vibration functionality.

To add to the woes of users, the absence of vibration features in Playstation 3 controllers takes away from the pleasure of the quicker paced games including online FPS games in which vibration is central to the enjoyment of the game. Most players would readily accept having the ability to feel bullets strike you and know the difference between a major and minor hit. It is only those that play the arcade games that won’t miss the vibrations.

Another feature of Playstation 3 controllers is that they can easily be operated using Bluetooth which means you don’t have messy wires and cables to contend with though there is also an option to connect your Playstation 3 using wires and USB cable. The advantage of using the USB cable is that it will allow your Playstation 3 controllers to get recharged without manual intervention.

So, if you are prepared to do without the vibrations, and can settle for the six axis sensor technology you could still get max pleasure from the Playstation 3 which is lighter in weight and easier to hold while not stressing your fingers after you have played for many an hour.

Playstation 3 Controller Is Light In Weight And Easy On The Fingers

Tuesday, October 9th, 2007

The Playstation 3 console (commonly known as PS3) is a video game console by Sony Entertainment, and follows on from its predecessors, Playstation 1 and Playstation 2. 2006 saw the release of the ‘seventh generation’ of video game consoles which included the Playstation 3 game console, as well as Microsoft’s Xbox 360 and Nintendo’s Wii. All three main consoles are in competition with each other to create the best and most purchased product on the market. The Playstation 3 game console has surpassed greatly in design than the two Playstation models that came before it.

History

The Playstation 3 Console was first released on November 11th 2006 in Japan, and this was followed by a release in North America, Taiwan and Hong Kong on November 17th 2006. It was released in Europe in early 2007.

Configurations

The Playstation 3 Console was originally available in two forms, the 20 GB Basic model and the 60 GB Premium model. The 20 GB model is still being sold in Japan but is no longer available in America due to lack of consumer demand. As of July 2007, there are three configurations of the PlayStation 3 console: a 20 GB model, a 60 GB model, and an 80 GB model. All retail packages include a SIXAXIS controller (a motion controller which reacts to movement), a USB cable, a video audio output cable, an Ethernet cable and a power cable. The main differences between the 20GB and the larger models are that the 20GB model comes with less features; it does not have access to wi-fi and flash memory like its larger models.

Games and Features

At its North American launch fourteen titles were available for the Playstation 3 Console. At its launch in Europe in 2007 24 titles were available and more are set to be released. In terms of features, some of the main new ones include Bluetooth controllers, Wi-fi internet access, Saxaxis controllers which respond to movement and a memory card adaptor.

Sales and Pricing

The early production costs for the Playstation 3 console models were estimated at US $805.85 for the 20 GB model and US $840.35 for the 60 GB model. When they were released they were priced at $499 and $599. The high manufacturing costs mean that every unit is sold at a loss of approximately $250. Since the original prices were set, they have since fallen further.

Backward Compatibility

The Playstation 3 console has been designed with a backward compatibility, which basically means that both Playstation 1 and 2 games can play on the Playstation 3 console.

Features of the Playstation 3 Console

Wednesday, October 3rd, 2007

Memory

The PlayStation 3 supports several forms of portable media. It has 6 USB 2.0 ports, a memory stick slot, an SD slot, and the system supports compact flash. The PlayStation 3 has 256MB of XDR (external data representation) memory and 256MB of GDDR3 memory dedicated to graphics. The Playstation 3 also features Blu-ray, an optical disc format meant for high definition video (HD) and high density data storage.

Multimedia

In terms of multimedia Playstation 3 features, a great Playstation 3 feature is its capability to support seven Bluetooth controllers, which can operate for almost twenty four hours non stop playing without being recharged. Using Bluetooth, the PlayStation 3 BD Remote allows users to control videos and music on Blu-ray Disc and DVD. The Playstation 3 also has internet access. It has wi-fi technology but can also be connected to a broadband internet connection. When the user accesses the internet there is instant access to the free Playstation 3 network which includes network gaming and web browsing. The internet offers users the chance to download new Playstation 3 features for their current games, as well as being able to chat to other users.

Accessories

The Playstation 3 comes with a Sixaxis feature, a controller that is similar in appearance to the ones that have come before, the DualShock 1 and 2. It features advanced analog sensitivity, which detects motion created by the user. In a flying game, for example, if the user of the controller moves the Sixaxis to the left, the game will respond. Unlike the previous models, it has no vibration feature, but the new Playstation 3 features more than make up for the lack of vibration. The Sixaxis also comes with R2 and L2 buttons that are more trigger-like in appearance, as well as a Playstation ‘home’ button that takes users to the home area, and a USB mini port that allows the user to charge the internal battery.

The PlayStation 3 also comes with a memory card adaptor, a device which allows saved game information to be transferred from PlayStation and PlayStation 2 memory cards to the PlayStation 3’s hard disk.

Soon to be released for Playstation 3 accessories is the Playstation Eye, an updated version of Playstation 2’s EyeToy. The camera is can capture 60 frames per second video at 640×480 resolution. The microphone on the new gadget can block out background noise and in addition the camera will support live video chat and voice chat without a headset. It will be released late in 2007.

Backward Compatibility

The Playstation 3 console has been designed with a backward compatibility, which basically means that both Playstation 1 and 2 games can play on the Playstation 3 console.
